| HOW
TO START AN ONLINE JOURNAL |
Do you want to start your own online journal but are not sure how or where to start?
This will serve as a simple guide on how to start your own personal
journal
at JSector.
1. Decide on a purpose for your journal
The first thing you need to decide on is the purpose for your journal. This
is an overall summary of what you will be writing about in your journal entries. Many people use their
journal account at JSector to publish their personal weekly journal. Some
journals are of a general nature and are the
thoughts and feelings of the author each day. You need to decide what
your journal topic will be and what you will be writing about.
Other journal examples:
- Journals about your pets and their life
- Journals about your children and their achievements
- Journals about your holidays and other travel adventures
Now you have some ideas, it is time to decide on a purpose for your own
online journal.
2. Decide on a name for your online journal
Come up with a name (also known as title) that will coincide with the
purpose of your journal. We suggest you keep the title of your journal restricted 70 characters in length or 8 words but this is up to you.
Remember the more relevant your title is to the purpose of your journal
overall topic, the more likely your journal will be found by people searching
for information on your journal topic.
3. Choose a suitable page layout
Choose a template or layout that fits the topic of your journal. If your
journal entires will be happy and exciting then a layout with lighter
colours will compliment your journal.
You can use the journal templates already made for you here at JSector.
4. Start adding articles to your online journal
We suggest you decide on how often you will add an entry to your journal. You
may decide to make a daily entry, monthly entry or weekly entry. Doing
this and sticking to your decided schedule will help keep your journal
maintained and up to date on a regular basis.
We advise that you make at least two entries right away so you will become
comfortable with using the web site and give your journal enough content to
be of interest to potential readers. Adding a journal entry content right away will
also help you decide on how often you want to add new articles because you
will start to get an idea of how long you will need to spend doing each
entry.
5. Promote your online journal
Journal promotion is important if you want some readers. Promote your
journal
by submitting it to search engines. You can also do a search for blog
links and request a link exchange with the blog and internet journal directories that come
up in the search results.
Remember to tell your friends, family and colleagues about your new
journal
because they are often the ones most interested in what you have to say. |
