Well I've been home sick from work all week so I took the opportunity to watch a few movies on FOXTEL. I also watched a few documentaries on Discovery Channel including one about aircraft carriers and their importance in war.
I managed to get a lift around the place by mum on Sunday which gave me the opportunity to do most of my Christmas shopping which was good. Christmas is only 4 weeks away and leaving it to the last week is always a bad idea when it comes to Christmas shopping.
I was listening to some of my old 4-Track recordings this weekend and have decided to start sampling the songs to the computer track by track. I may be able to remix them nicer and add drums and things which aren't on the multi-track recordings but I'll see what I feel like doing after I've sampled everything onto the computer. I was happy to have found some of the songs because I don't have written or typed records of a lot of the lyrics I came up with in 1996,7,8 because back then I would compose the keyboard tracks using the computer then record that to one track of the 4-track and improvise the lyrics onto another track as I went. The idea was that after doing it several times over what I came up with made sense, then revised it until it did. Most of the tapes have 4 or 5 different versions of the same song on them so maybe I will only sample the finished versions but I feel that I should keep everything for the sentimental value. Something I have noticed by listening to the old recordings is that my singing isn't as good now as it was in the past, my keyboard playing has improved a lot and my guitar playing hasn't really changed a very much except I'm probably more confident on that now than I used to be. I really should take guitar lessons at some stage. I know a few chords but I have no idea how to find new ones like I can on the keyboard.
This weekend I announced that I wanted to arrange a family camping trip. Don't laugh now, yes it was MY idea and I'm going to make it happen. I remember doing some camping when I was a kid but I have never done any camping as an adult. Not that I'm going to start knocking back hotels, cabins and caravans, but I want to give this 'roughing it' tent kind of camping a shot as well. Camping will be fun. The plan is to go somewhere on the Central Coast in February next year for a weekend. This is the first family camping trip since Stephen was born so dad wanted it to be close and also being near the Central Coast they can check on the progress of the rental property they are having built there.
This will be my last journal entry at the grand 'ol age of 28. Next time I sit down to do this I will have aged by only a week but will be a year older in birth. Yes, it will be my Birthday on Thursday meaning another year has passed and I'm not getting any younger. I had to state the obvious there because I didn't know what else to say.
I feel as if I have achieved a lot this week. Despite being sick for most of the week I still got most of my Christmas shopping done, dug up some old music recordings, started a camping trip plan in motion then found time to type all this up and have just noticed that this is now my longest journal entry so far.
That will be all for this entry. Time for me to get some sleep.
